First Day in Paris

First stop Eiffel Tower. The view of Paris is breathtaking from the top. Windy and cold at 1000 feet. Words cannot describe the size and scale. Can you believe it is 400 feet taller than the Gateway Arch?

Had to stop for a snack and wine at a local cafe. Ran into a tourist from Washington DC who was kind enough to take our picture.

After dinner we took a driving tour of the city and were amazed at the Eiffel Tower lit up at night.

We Made it to Paris

Made it after a 9+ hour flight . . . and an hour late. But safe and sound in France.

Oops - everything going well but we posted our first blog last night and it somehow got deleted - operator error! It was way too late to redo so we went to bed. An guess what? We all overslept (yes, this includes Lisa) . So we are rushing off to keep our schedule and will blog tonight. Having fun, got to run. Look for a better blog tonight.

How long does it take...

The four of us got together on the weekend of September 2, 2008 to start planning our next European Adventure. We narrowed it down to France and Belgium and started plotting our route. We used a dry erase board to map out our route which allowed us to make changes as we went along. After the first weekend, we had a good idea of what we wanted to see and do. Now, all we had to do was finalize the details.

On November 19, 2008 Bill made our flight reservations from Dallas to Paris. Then on November 27, 2008 he made the flight reservations from Paris back to the states. What a relief to have this finalized.

On the weekend of June 27, 2009, the four of us got together again to book our hotels, rental car and make the final decisions on our itinerary. Debbie copied the map and cut it to show the route that we planned to take. We laid it out on the floor to make sure it was feasible. After a few tweaks, we decided it was a go and made our final reservations. Now all we have to do is count the days until we leave.

Who's counting???

Ten days to go, but who's counting. We have so much to do in the next 10 days I know the time will fly by. I am very excited about the trip and can't wait to share this experience with our 2 best friends again. We have a great trip planned and it will be fun sharing it with our family and friends as we go along.

Special dinners

12 more days until we leave . . . yea! I'm trying to track down some contacts who know Paris restaurants and my aunt Sherry sent us a list of places she knows in Paris.

We have only 2 nights in Paris, so each dinner has to be be special . . . kind of like the place in Rome that charged us to sit outside :)
